We are thrilled to announce that an insulation project we have been working on in Amber Valley has been shortlisted for a prestigious national award.
Alongside Amber Valley Borough Council and Futures Housing Group, the Westville team has been installing high-quality insulation on 250 homes across the region. This insulation will help the residents to cut their energy bills by hundreds of pounds per year, along with keeping their homes warmer in winter and reducing their carbon footprint as well.
What the work has achieved, in numbers:
- Reduced carbon emissions in Ironville by 36 tonnes per year
- Saved Ironville homeowners an average of £315 per year on their energy bills
- Saved Ripley homeowners an average of £540 per year on their energy bills
- Reduced carbon emissions in Ripley by more than 83 tonnes per year.
This was all part of a scheme that was made possible using £1.7m worth of funding from the Government’s Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS). The Midlands Net Zero Hub facilitated the scheme across the Midlands on behalf of BEIS to give local authorities in the region the best chance of success.
The work has resulted in the partnership being announced as one of four shortlisted candidates in the ‘Collaborative Working’ category of the Building Communities Awards 2023, which is held in Leicester on March 3.
We faced a number of challenges during this project, including the fact that a lot of the work was carried out during the covid pandemic, meaning we had to contend with reduced workforces & social distancing measures – all of which makes this awards acknowledgment feel even more special.
Words from our managing director Sean Stevenson:
“This is a great achievement and a credit to everyone involved in the project.
“It just goes to show how working together can make a significant difference and I would like to thank everyone at Amber Valley Borough Council and Futures Housing Group for all their help and commitment.
“It was such a refreshing approach from both and totally underpinned the delivery. This has to be the way in the future and I’m really excited for further ventures.”
We want to thank all of our partners at Amber Valley Council and the Futures Housing Group for their amazing work, and we cannot wait for the awards ceremony!
