The scheme which provides free insulation to homeowners across Mansfield has been extended.
The Green Homes Grant scheme, which we have previously written about here, has been running since 2020. A successful bid to Phase 3 of the Green Homes Grant Local Area Delivery Scheme (LAD) has allowed for an additional £200,000 of funding for the scheme.
This means that homeowners can continue to get free loft & cavity wall insulation. The deadline for applications is 7th August 2023, and in homes that do not have a cavity, external wall insulation may also be available.
To be eligible for the grant, applicants must own their own home, have a household income of less than £31,000 and live in a property with an energy performance certificate (EPC) rating of D, E, F or G.
It is anticipated that the insulation measures will improve properties’ EPC ratings by up to two bands – reducing a household’s annual energy bills by hundreds of pounds per year, and, in a lifetime, saving 75.26 tonnes of carbon per property. In addition to that, effective insulation can also help to prevent damp & mold.
The funding is part of the scheme run by Mansfield District Council in a drive to help the area’s housing stock become more efficient and environmentally friendly. The council formally declared a climate emergency in 2019 and has since developed a strategy and action plan to meet its target of being a carbon-neutral authority by 2040.
As the approved company carrying out the work covered by the grant scheme, we have installed loft & cavity wall insulation for hundreds of families across Mansfield.
